Shrinking of bills could fund travel wishes
Friday, July 2nd 2010
Britons may need to start thinking about saving some cash if they are to fulfil their ultimate travel dreams.
A survey by swiftcover.com has found that when it comes to jet-setting, travelling far and living dangerously are particular favourites.
Nearly one-in-four of the travel policies sold by the insurance provider is to someone heading off on a long-haul adventure.
Meanwhile, 23 per cent of people say a tropical island is their dream destination, while 14 per cent would prefer a world cruise, according to the findings.
Roman Bryl, travel underwriting manager at the insurer, says: "If people are venturing farther afield they do need to make sure they have the right travel insurance that covers them for more exotic destinations beyond Europe and provides adequate cover."
But they may also need a significant sum of cash to fund their travels, which could be created by saving money on household bills.
One way to cut down on expenditure is to give up smoking, which Santander this week said can save £7,000 over three years.
