Attractive mortgage deals offered by lenders

People who are struggling to find the right mortgage for them may wish to turn to deals on offer from Britannia and the Co-operative Bank.

The lenders are both halving the fees they will require in exchange for completing a 90 per cent loan-to-value ratio home loan.

In addition to this, they are reducing the interest rates on the same deals, meaning borrowers will have less to find each month to meet repayments.

James Hillon, function leader of mortgages for the Co-operative Financial Services, says: "We are keen to help support mortgage customers and these reductions in both rates and fees will provide a welcome boost for first-time buyers and home movers."

Those interested in the mortgages are advised to visit either of the companies in person or go online.

Perhaps the most likely to take up the offers are young women, with recent research by Santander concluding females are becoming first-time buyers in the greatest numbers.
