Energy bills set to decrease under new scheme
Friday, June 11th 2010
Britons with a desire to shrink the size of their monthly home energy bill have been boosted by news that the government is to adopt the Pay As You Save scheme.
One expert, Simon McWhirter, believes the project is a "brilliant proposition" for homeowners in the UK.
"If we get this right, they get a more comfortable home [that] is cheaper to run, it is more environmentally sensitive and they don't pay any dough for it," the campaign director at the Great British Refurb Campaign states.
He suggests there will be a significant and noticeable rise in the energy efficiency of buildings that will create a widespread financial boost.
The director goes on to say improving energy efficiency - and as a result creating cheaper bills - should be easy and affordable for everyone.
A recent report by the Federation of Master Builders from the London School of Economics and Political Science concluded reusing small sites of up to two hectares could solve the country's housing problems overnight.
