UK vital SMEs 'should be supported'
Monday, May 10th 2010
Money should be spent on aiding small to medium businesses (SMEs), who need government support, says business author and guru Sahar Hashemi.
She explains some 41 per cent of the UK's national income comes from SMEs and that these firms could affect Britain's future.
"We should never forget their contribution and how important they are in their role into the recovery of our economy," Ms Hashemi notes.
The latest Markit/CIPS UK Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index found there were "marked gains" in output, with new exports hitting record levels.
According to Ms Hashemi, Britain is "going to excel in manufacturing where we can be different".
Companies should be supported because they will have to create products that are different to the norm and innovate in this industry in order for it to flourish.
But she says this is possible because the UK knows of ways to implement various solutions and do things in a unique way.
