Credit crunch could have forced Brits abroad
Thursday, April 22nd 2010
Many of Britons believe their finances and lifestyle would be better if they moved abroad.
Marc Da-Silva, freelance property reporter and editor of HomesOverseas.co.uk says there will also be a number of people looking to come to the UK for similar reasons.
"A lot of people have taken early retirements after the recent credit crunch, so that is certainly one factor for moving overseas," he says.
And quality of life is often considered to be better abroad than in the UK, Mr Da-Silva continues.
Those struggling to afford to purchase property in Britain may also find preferable property prices overseas, with young couples expected to make the move for a fresh start, he adds.
According to the NatWest International Personal Banking Quality of Life Report, 89 per cent of British expatriates consider their quality of life to be better abroad.
Some 90 per cent said they were financially secure, with 19 per cent of expats planning to return to the UK in the future.
