Renewable heating could be a money saving move
Monday, March 22nd 2010
Households could save money by installing renewable heating technology, according to director at Eco Energi Dr Matthew Goodwin.
As the UK emerges from the recession, now is the ideal time to invest in green home improvements, he added.
"Obviously it saves money on people's energy bills, but also the government is going to pay them for that heat as well, so what was a good investment is now an excellent investment," Dr Goodwin claimed.
And the Conservative Party will support such improvements after it revealed its Rebuilding Security plan will offer up to £6,500 in energy efficiency improvements to each British household.
No upfront cost would be involved with the improvements, which independent assessors would decide on.
Dr Goodwin noted that more people seem to be taking an interest in renewable heating, although some green technologies were seen as a luxury not a necessity last year.
Business for items such as solar panels was relatively poor in 2009, he added.
