'More investors' looking for ethical funds

Friday, February 12th 2010

An increasing number of investors are seeking to incorporate ethical and green funds into their individual savings accounts (Isas), according to the chief executive of UKSIF.

Penny Shepherd of the sustainable investment and finance group commented that a recent survey carried out ahead as part of national Ethical Investment Week noted that people aged 55 and older were among the age groups most keen to make a difference while making money.

One way to do this, she suggested, is to incorporate ethical investments into Isa accounts, as this demographic is enjoying an increased allowance on this type of account in the current tax year.

"As we gradually move out of recession, it is vital that people carefully consider the impact of their investments to help build a sustainable economic recovery," Ms Shepherd stated.

Figures published earlier this month (February 3rd) by the Co-operative Bank indicate that ten per cent of people looking to switch current accounts state that their main reason for doing so is because they would like a more ethical provider.ADNFCR-1794-ID-19612277-ADNFCR
